Benjamin Kahr has been active in the New York Metropolitan area as a commercial leasing broker and consultant since 1985.
During his career Benjamin has negotiated several deals for the law firm Morvillo, Abramowitz, Grand, Iason, Anello & Bohrer, P.C. and for Axinn, Veltrop and Harkrider LLP, as well as financial firms such as Cerberus/Blackacre Capital Group, Bloomberg L.P. in Boston and Texas, media company Sat Matrix in NYC and Salt Lake City, automotive company Daewoo Motors for 275,000 on Long Island and Long Island City, landlord and owner of The Carlyle Hotel, 450 Park Avenue and 1370 Sixth Avenue, Peter Sharp in their relocations.
As a Landlord’s Representative, Benjamin has represented ownership in leasing 19,500 sq ft for Town Sports and Signature Bank for 5,100 sq ft at 26 Court Street in Downtown Brooklyn.
In 2003, Benjamin Kahr teamed up with Leslie Siben to represent restaurants, leveraging his relationships with owners and brokers to rent to restaurants for locations that were previously dry use, showing the value to a landlord to rent to qualified restaurateurs, that would increase the value of the building and the cache associated with having top notch restaurants. Buddakan and Morimoto (33,000 square feet) are prime examples of taking large dry use/office use spaces and changing the tenancy as well as anchoring the Chelsea Market which is now considered part of Meatpacking.
To date Leslie and Benjamin have represented China Grill Management, Starr Restaurant Organization, Union Square Hospitality Group , The Smith, Japanais, Telepan, Ilili, Kellari Taverna, Boqueria, The Darby , Pino Luongo, The Dutch and so many others.
Benjamin has been a member of the Real Estate Board of New York.
